“A lack of humility is the greatest killer of potential”

I read this quote from Rick Pitino, coach of the Louisville Cardinals men’s basketball team, and I thought it was very interesting:

“a lack of humility is the greatest killer of potential”

I won’t claim to know everything he means by this, but I do know that whenever I get “full of myself” (over-confident), trouble is usually right around the corner. I think that’s what he means here, and if so, I agree with him.

A friend of mine had an interesting way of stating this, from a very different perspective:

“We all suck sometimes”

She attributed that quote to a Sandra Bullock movie, but I haven’t been able to find that movie yet.
