Dream of a huge explosion
I just woke up from a massive explosion in a dream, and was very glad to find my left arm still attached to my body, because in the dream I'm not sure it was still there.
Recurring dream of a new job, and complete silence
Two quick notes this morning. First, I've been having a recurring dream of starting a new job. The building I work in seems to be three stories tall, and I have a desk outside the office of the man who seems to run everything. During the first few dreams there was nothing for me to do, but this morning he walked out and asked if I was ready to get started. I don't know him, but I do know a couple of women in the office from my own previous jobs, including Pam and Michelle.
"It was too safe for me"
I don't watch CSI, and I didn't know William Petersen was leaving, but after reading this article, which including the following quote, I can dig why he is leaving:
"The reason I'm leaving is because I'm afraid I'm becoming too comfortable," says Petersen.
Do it from the heart
Another good quote from the day that was Monday, January 12, 2009:
As I think about my own work situation, and more specifically think about changing careers, this quote resonates strongly with me. I currently do one thing that I don't have my heart in that pays very well, and I'm thinking about trading that job in for something I really enjoy, but doesn't pay well.
Job interview, push versus pull
Walking on a campus, or maybe a hotel facility with a woman ... I'm apparently interviewing for a job with her. My approach is something like "I'll work for free, and if you like my work, we'll go from there."
She refers to this as a "push" (compared to a "pull"). I think she's talking about recruiting as being a pull, and what I'm doing as a push.
