Why OBEs happen more easily for me

It's been several months since I last wrote anything here, mostly because I've had a lot going on, and I was also dealing with some health issues. I'm finally back in an apartment that's quiet at night, and my health is fine, so I'm looking forward to having some OBEs again.

If I haven't written about this before, I thought I'd make a few notes here about why I seem to have OBEs so much easier than the rest of the population. Not including genetics, which I can only guess at, there are five factors that I think make me more prone to having OBEs than most people.

A friend with an ankle problem (OBE)

To my surprise, I flew around again for a while last night. I followed the usual pattern that seems to be working for me of late: Quiet things down after dinner (read a book, do some yoga), get into bed by 9pm, then wake up around midnight, get up and brush my teeth (my main motivation for getting back out of bed). Unable to fall back to sleep quickly this way, I was able to relax deeply while not falling asleep.

Lucid dreams and OBEs

Just a quick note that I spent most of the time from midnight until 3am this morning in lucid dreams and the OBE state. I didn't make any notes about them during the night because there wasn't anything remarkable about them, but after many more dreams from 3am until I woke up this morning, I don't remember a lot of detail about them, other than being happy that they finally started up again.

A few notes from the night:

A short OBE, and OBE, lucid dreams, and Zen thoughts

On Friday I drove to a lodge about ninety miles north of my current apartment. I got there too early to check in, so I did what I planned to do: Changed my clothes, pulled my bicycle out of the back of the car, and road a 25-mile bike path.

When I got back from the ride I checked into the lodge, took a shower, and walked around for a while. Tired from a lack of sleep the last two nights, I had dinner, came back to the lodge, read a book for a while, then began to fall asleep.

An OBE and an upset stomach

I was going to write this post as a bit of a conversational story, but time is short today, so ... last night I started to have an OBE several times, but I had to stop it and it also stopped itself because I had an upset stomach. One of the drawbacks of having my gallbladder removed is that from time to time I eat the wrong thing, and it takes my digestive system a while to sort things out.

A simple OBE recipe

After another near-OBE this afternoon (I got too excited, lol), I thought I'd share a simple OBE recipe here, in case I haven't shared it here before:

Recent OBE thoughts

Recent events reminded me of this OBE, where my "second body" (astral body, energy body, etc.) was pulled from my physical body, and eventually landed in the backyard of a house where I was house-sitting for a friend. The recent questions are "How do you see in the second body?", and "How do you hear in the second body?"

An OBE, interrupted

For the last two nights I've been doing some chanting before going to bed, and then meditating for as long as I felt like it, without using a timer. As expected, this led to an OBE last night, or at least the start of one ...

Driving, social activity, and dream activity

One other note about last night's dream sequences: I had about five very active sequences, two of which would be considered lucid, and this makes me wonder, was all this dream activity related to my driving yesterday?

Lucid dream of an astral event ... and a ghost

(I'm going to try to describe what just happened, but frankly, this was a little unusual, even for me, so I'll just see if I can report this experience as it happened.)

I gained consciousness during a dream state, and found myself laying in a bed. I didn't know where I was, but the bed was set up so that my head and upper torso were propped up, such as in a bed whose top half could be raised, or perhaps my upper body had some pillows propped underneath it.
