Seeing cards in a dream
Last night I was feeling very calm, and I was able to relax like I haven't been able to do in a long time. As I thumbed through an old book on Zen, I felt very calm, with no thoughts of the past or future disturbing me.
I thought I might be able to have an OBE, so I set things up for the card test. I did the usual thing, closing my eyes, shuffling the cards, taking one from the deck, placing it face up, walking away, then opening my eyes.
Lifting a house like Yoda
While the universe continues to remind me that this physical body is mortal and I'm just living here on borrowed time, my lucid dreams of late have been entertaining. Two of the last three nights I've had lucid dreams with friends and family members, along with a couple of people I don't know.
Lucid dreams and OBEs
Just a quick note that I spent most of the time from midnight until 3am this morning in lucid dreams and the OBE state. I didn't make any notes about them during the night because there wasn't anything remarkable about them, but after many more dreams from 3am until I woke up this morning, I don't remember a lot of detail about them, other than being happy that they finally started up again.
A few notes from the night:
Planes being shot down, precognition
For most of last night I considered the evening to be a severe disappointment. The setup yesterday was so perfect, I thought for sure I'd have one or more OBEs.
Yesterday morning at 11am I was sure I was about to have an OBE, except for the minor detail that I was driving a car, so I had to force myself to stay focused to make sure that didn't happen. (Usually before I have an OBE I know I'm going to have one, and that's what this feeling was.)
Alarm goes off in my head while sleeping
I've had a ton of dreams lately, including some levitating and light flying dreams, but I've been too busy to record them. One dream stands out from last night however.
Going to sleep here, waking up in Illinois
Even though I did nothing intentionally to generate any "special effects" last night, they came again in bunches. Three times I closed my eyes and tried to fall asleep, and as I "fell asleep" here, I woke up in a bed in Illinois where I grew up.
At this time (the following morning) I don't remember the first event, other than I recall it happening. Actually, it ended up with me being on a baseball field, and I recall my uniform number being 45, which I thought was weird. A few friends from the high school baseball days were there also.
Lucid dreams and zombies
A quick note after a long period of lucid dreaming this morning: Some 'people' in lucid dreams act like nothing more than zombies, especially when a lucid dream first begins. The next time I have a lucid dream I'm going to see if I can mess with those people and see what happens, maybe run over and grab them and try to wake them up. I don't like zombies in my dreams, lol.
OBEs as work, love, death
Last night was one of those nights that make trying to have an OBE seem like work. To the greatest extent possible, I did everything last night just like I did the night before, but nothing happened, nothing was ever close to happening. So at roughly 5am I woke up, rolled over, said "f*ck", and went back to sleep.
As a result, today would normally be a very trying, irritable day for me (because of the disappointment), but after rolling over, I was fortunate enough to have one of those long "love" dreams that helps you wake up happy.
Wielding a long knife in a garage
My sleep ended this morning with a dream of my brother-in-law wielding a long knife in front of him, perhaps 12" long or so. He wasn't moving it in a threatening manner, but he kept moving it so it was pointing left, then right, then back to left again. I believe we were in the garage at the home where I grew up, with the garage door open to my left (and his right), with light coming in from behind and above him.
Long night, long dreams
Last night was one of those nights where you go to bed at 11pm, have long, epic dreams all night, wake up feeling incredibly refreshed, and then find it's only 6:30am. Worse than that, I almost got up much earlier, feeling like I normally do, which is to say not 100% refreshed, but needing to get to work.
